ShIL is a co-simulation Power-Hardware-In-the-Loop (PHIL) environment in which ship board microgrid, port , cyber range and ship dynamic behaviour tests can be driven simultaneously.
Advanced research facility for co-simulation environment for the maritime sector:
mechanical elements (propulsion system),
board microgrid (power generation system, power distribution, power management)
port infrastructures
ITC infrastructures (Telco, SCADA, IoT)
It will enable
Hands-on laboratories for students
Advanced (effective and engaging) training for ship operators
Quantitative assessment of techniques and tools
Development of innovative solutions
In a variety of areas:
Ship design/testing
Electrical grid
Cybersecurity
The project is based on 3 infrastructures located in Genova, Savona and La Spezia
4 macro areas that are managed by the University of Genova,
the 4 macro-areas are: Electrical, Naval, Mechanic and Telecommunication.
Full ship Bridge simulator
The bridge is the centre of the project
It allows to model the entire development framework (considering human interaction) and it is linked with all the simulators and emulators.
The bridge facility will simulate a realistic operative condition in a co-simulation real time between all the infrastructures.
Co-simulation environment
The control room will be interfaced with the Cyber-physic model (power generation system, power distribution, power management and propulsion system).
The microgrid will be virtually interconnected with the IET for experimental setup, with the experimental setup of the propulsion system in a towing tanks and with the telecommunications of the IR VINCI, DLTM, DITEN and DIBRIS.
The ship model in the Towing Tanks will be controlled by the control room in remote mode and also by a virtual desktop locally installed.
The system will allow to use dedicated software in a co-simulation, to manage of the power, the develop of 5G connection system, IoT and cyber-range.
